Vehicle Condition Assessment

The vehicle's pre-loss condition directly affects its market value. Please review the descriptions below and honestly select the condition that best reflects your vehicle before the accident occurred.

Why Condition Matters
Because the pre-loss condition of the asset plays a critical role in determining its market value, this appraisal includes a condition assessment based on industry-accepted criteria. A clear and supportable classification of the asset's condition ensures the use of appropriate market comparables and valuation benchmarks.

To establish an objective reference point, we reference grading criteria consistent with resources such as Cherry Black Book, J.D. Power, and Kelley Blue Book, all of which utilize condition-based tiers to help quantify value adjustments. These classifications take into account a vehicle's overall cosmetic appearance, structural soundness, mechanical condition, and overall marketability.

How to Answer: Think about your vehicle as it was the day before the accident. Be honest — overstating condition will not increase the final value and may undermine your claim. The condition you select will be reflected in the appraisal report and you will be asked to attest to your answer.
Condition Tier Description Value Adj.
Extra Clean
(Excellent)
No visible damage, dings, or scratches | No reconditioning needed | Interior is flawless — no wear on seats, carpet, dash, etc. | Tires and brakes are near new | Well maintained with full service records | Typically detailed and showroom-ready +10%
Clean
(Very Good)
Minor wear and tear from normal driving | May have a few small chips or light scratches, but nothing needing bodywork | Interior is clean with minimal wear | Tires and brakes in good condition | Mechanically sound and no major repairs needed | May need light detailing to be front-line ready +5%
Average
(Baseline)
Common retail vehicle condition | Shows typical use, including scratches, door dings, and some interior wear | Tires and brakes may need replacement soon | Might have minor mechanical or cosmetic issues | May need some reconditioning to be front-line ready Baseline
Rough Shows significant wear and tear inside and out | Has noticeable dings, dents, paint damage, and possibly mismatched panels or faded paint | Interior is worn, possibly torn seats or stained carpet | Mechanical issues likely | Would require extensive reconditioning | May be a candidate for auction or wholesale only −10%
Damaged / Salvage Major mechanical or cosmetic issues | Typically non-running or unsafe to drive | May have frame damage, deployed airbags, or a branded/salvage title | Not typically listed in valuation guides because the value is highly variable −20%
